This Grüner Veltliner is the crème de la crème from Traisental producer Markus Huber. And indeed, despite its rich yellowy colour, this is a creamy wine, offering predominantly white and some black pepper notes as well as herbs. The whole taste experience is subtle rather than sumptuous, delicately nuanced, with expressive minerality and pomaceous notes, as opposed to the ‘in-your-face’ fruitiness offered by other prime-site Grüner Veltliners. But there is some of those more tropical hints here too, with melon and nutty tastes in this ineffably elegant wine’s long expressive finish.
